Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How old does my baby/child need to be?

A: You can have a casting done as soon or as late as you want. The earlier you have it done the tinier and the more wrinkles they have. Older babies (6 months to 18 months) can be more challenging to cast as they are busier and more aware of what’s happening.

Q: Does my baby need to be awake for the appointment?

A: No, it is perfectly ok if they are asleep. It can be done while they are asleep or awake.

Q: What if my baby is is wriggly or moves a lot?

A: A little movement is ok, and helps the alginate to get into all the little places. However, sometimes they do move too much and damage the mould. In these cases, the mould is redone or if bubs is really not happy it can be done at another appointment.

Q: Is the material you use safe for a newborn?

A: Yes, the alginate used for the moulding is made from seaweed and is very gentle and safe on their delicate skin.

Q: Do I come to you for my appointment or do you come to me?

A: You will come to me for your appointment, however, I can travel to you for your appointment at an additional travel cost. If you require a travel appointment please message me for a quote.

Q: Are you only based in Tauranga?

A: Yes, I am only based in Tauranga.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: Absolutely!!!!! I never want finances to prevent anyone from having a casting done.

Q: Do you offer weekend appointments?

A: Yes, I do do weekend appointments by special request.

Q: How long will it take for my keepsake to be completed?

A: All castings take approximately 3 months to complete. While I know this may seem like a long time to wait, there are multiple stages involved in completing your cast/s. As soon as your keepsakes are ready for collection, I will let you know either by email and/or text.
